Welcome to PocketThemes.netAll you need to kow about Pocket PC Themes
Pocket PC ThemesStandard Pocket PC 2002 ThemesOriginally all Pocket PC devices had a screen resolution of 240 x 320 (QVGA). Whilst having a standard screen resolution was great for developers, it severly restricted the types and form factors of devices that the manufacturers could create. Standard Pocket PC 2002 Themes contain a single resolution of 240 x 320 in Portrait mode. These themes do not always display correctly on devices with a different screen resolution than 240 x 320. This is the most commonly available theme formant with thousands available freely on the net, and some premium packs available to purchase. Standard Windows Mobile 2003 ThemesAfter the Pocket PC 2002 came the rebranded Windows Mobile 2003 systems. Theme wise, these are very similar to the Pocket PC 2002 themes and only support a single resolution of 240x320 in Portrait mode. The only difference is Wm2003 themes include the support to change the Start Menu text color. Standard Windows Mobile 2003 SE ThemesWindows Mobile 2003 SE (Second Edition) was the first release of Windows Mobile to support other screen resolutions and orientations. In order to accomodate these extra device sizes, changes were made to theme format to support the new resolutions and orientations. Standard Windows Mobile 2003 SE themes 240 x 320 and 320 x 240 QVGA screen resolutions for both Portrait and Landscape device orientations. Extra files embedded into the themes are shown depending on what resolution the device is running in. It also includes the Start Menu color support introduced in WM2003. VGA Windows Mobile 2003 SE ThemesWindows Mobile 2003 SE (Second Edition) also introduced support for VGA resolution devices in both Portrait (480 x 640) and Landscape (640 x 480) orientations. VGA Windows Mobile 2003 SE Themes support 480 x 640 and 640 x 480 screen resolutions along with the Start Menu color supported introduced in WM2003. QVGA Landscape ThemesQVGA Landscape thermes are just like Standard Windows Mobile 2003 SE themes, but they only contain the images in the theme file to support devices running in Landscape QVGA mode. The right hand edge of the screen will be chopped off, and there will be a black border at the bottom if shown in Portrait mode. VGA Landscape ThemesVGA Landscape thermes are just like VGA Windows Mobile 2003 SE themes, but they only contain the images in the theme file to support devices running in Landscape VGA mode. The right hand edge of the screen will be chopped off, and there will be a black border at the bottom if shown in Portrait mode. Square ThemesIn order to make devices even smaller, Windows Mobile 5 introduced devices with square screens. These devices typically run at a resolution of 240x240 and the smaller screen usually allows room on the device for a QWERTY thumb board for quicker typing. There aren't really any square themes available, but because of the size of the screen they will perfectly happily display QVGA Portrait and Landscape themes with either the right or bottom edge stripped off. This usually doesn't affect the look of the theme greatly. These devices can also display the Premium Theme Packs that are available for purchase online. Windows Mobile 5 ThemesWindows Mobile 5 Themes are the same as Windows Mobile 2003 SE themes, except the Menu Bar at the bottom is the same color as the Menu Bar at the top of the screen. If a Top Menu bar color is not specified in the theme, then Windows Mobile 5 will automatically blend and generate a complimentary color.
